Instructions for submissions

Paper Presentations

If your proposal is accepted as a paper presentation, you are required to write a full paper that is to be submitted no later than the 31st of March 2009. A full paper consists of an updated abstract (300 words, maximum) and a paper (4000 words maximum, excluding references) that has to be uploaded as an attachment in MS WORD or PDF format. The abstract will be used in the conference proceedings. In case your paper exceeds the word limit, the reviewers will review only the first 4000 words. The review procedure is meant as an opportunity for feedback, not for summative assessment. Therefore, the review process will take place as an open, non-blind, process. For further information see the paper guidelines.

To submit your full paper, please follow the link to the online system. In order to complete your submission, please log in with your EARLI or Conference login ID and password (you should have received this in the confirmation E-mail from your first submission). We recommend you to try to login into the system already some days before the deadline to make sure that there is still time left to solve possible technical problems.

We must receive your submission no later than the 31st of March 2009, 24:00 hours Central European Time. If we have not received your submission by that date, your paper will not be sent to reviewers for feedback. After a successful submission, you will receive a confirmation email, which also contains important information on the review process in which you will participate as a peer reviewer. If you decide not to participate in the conference, please inform us as soon as possible, as participants are matched to each other for this peer reviewing.

You will get feedback on your paper from a senior researcher and a PhD student who also participates in the 2009 JURE Pre-conference.

Poster Presentations

When your proposal is accepted as a poster presentation, you are required to create a poster and submit it along with an updated abstract (300 words) no later than the 30th of April 2009. For further information see the poster guidelines.

To submit your abstract and poster please follow the link to the online system. You can find an example of a poster  here.

NOTE: You can find some useful tips and tricks on how to use MS Powerpoint to create you posters here. However the actual plotting information is not applicable as it reserved for KULeuven students and personnel. But the step-by-step guide is useful and relevant.

Round table discussions

Contrary to paper sessions, in which the presenters should at least present a finished literature study or should have analyzed and interpreted their data, round table sessions will give you the opportunity to discuss not only outcomes but also the design of a research project or research in progress. When your proposal is accepted as a round table discussion, you are required to create a handout and to submit it along with an updated abstract (300 words) no later than the 30th of April 2009. For further information see the guidelines for round table.

To submit your abstract and handout please follow thelink to the online system. Find an example of a round table hand-out here .

NOTE: The round table hand-outs can be considered as mini-posters. You can create your hand-outs using MS Powerpoint (for more info please check the note on the poster section). The MS Powerpoint file can then be saved as .pdf document. Please note that you are required to bring your own copies of your hand-outs for the participants. Thus, in order to reduce the printing cost we suggest that you print the hand-outs on regular paper and in black&white.

Actively take part in the peer feedback process

As a participant of the 2009 JURE Pre-conference you are expected to take part in the feedback procedure and to comment on one paper, poster or round table contribution of another conference participant with the same session type. The aim of the peer review is not only to get feedback but also to learn how to review and give feedback on other's work constructively. Further guidelines will be available later. The paper, poster or handout of the round table contribution can be accessed through the conference system.

Your paper feedback must be returned no later than the 31st of May 2009.
Your poster feedback must be returned no later than the 31st of May 2009.
Your round table feedback must be returned no later than the 31st of May 2009.
