How to connect to Wireless Guest network service?

The following instructions describe how to connect with a MS Windows notebook (XP or Vista). If you are using an Apple notebook, you can probably connect. However, we do not support this platform.

Windows XP:

•  Go to ‘Start’ => ‘Control Panel’ => ‘Network Connections’.
•  The Network Connections window appears. Click in the list at ‘LAN or High-Speed Internet’ with your right mouse button on ‘Wireless Network Connection’.
•  Click in the menu on ‘View Available Wireless Networks’.
•  Select the ‘guest’ network.
•  Click on ‘Connect’.
•  Next start your browser. Take note!: sometimes a notebook does not recognize the security certificate Guest network uses. In that case you receive a message saying ‘there is a problem with this website’s security certificate’. Ignore this message and select ‘continue to this website’.
•  After a while a login screen appears (Welcome to the VU Wireless Guest network Service). Enter your guest username and password.
•  You can use the Internet now.

Windows Vista

•  Go to ‘Control Panel’ => ‘Network and Internet’ => ‘Network and Sharing Center’ => ‘Manage Wireless Networks’.
•  Choose ‘Add’.
•  Click on ‘Add a network that is in range of this computer’.
•  Select the ‘guest’ network.
•  Click on ‘Connect’. A message will appear saying that VU-Guest is an unsecured network. Please ignore this message and select ‘Connect anyway’.
•  Next start your browser. Take note!: sometimes a notebook does not recognize the security certificate VU-Guest uses. In that case you receive a message saying ‘there is a problem with this website’s security certificate’. Ignore this message and select ‘yes’ to proceed.
•  After a while a login screen appears (Welcome to the VU Wireless Guest network Service). Enter your guest username and password.
•  You can use the Internet now.

We insistently recommend you to use a firewall on your notebook!
